How Do I Find Pickleball Lessons Near Me?

Pickleball Lessons with Sarah Ansboury

I get asked some form of Pickleball lessons question all the time…

  • How do I find a reputable Pickleball Coach or Instructor in my area?
  • What should I look for in a Pickleball Coach or Instructor?
  • Should I look for a Group Pickleball Lessons or 1 to 1 Lessons?

These are great pickleball lessons questions, especially when you are first starting out. You don’t want to choose the wrong Coach or Instructor for your skill level. Plus let me compliment you on searching out instruction for your pickleball game. I find the more my students improve the more they enjoy playing and when it comes down to it, finding joy in something that is healthy is what it’s all about.

Here are some of the other things I get asked about Pickleball lessons…

Where To Take Beginner Pickleball Classes?

Sometimes finding appropriate pickleball classes for beginners is hard because in some areas there really aren’t enough qualified Coaches to offer them. Many Coaches prefer to work with Intermediate and up Pickleball Players because these players have experience and it can be easier for the Coach to make small adjustments to their techniques and create big gains.

It can take a patient Coach to work with pickleball beginners, and often the best answer for a beginner looking for pickleball lessons is to search for local Pickleball Clinics for Beginners. At a Clinic for Beginners you know the Instructor is ready and willing to help beginners.

Pickleball Lessons For Beginners Course

Pickleball Lessons

If you are looking for beginner pickleball lessons then this course is for you. One of the reasons I created a whole Course titled How To Play Pickleball For Beginners was because I saw a need to teach the Fundamentals, to help Pickleball Beginners learn technique, rules, and strategy so they start out on the right foot (and it’s only $9.99 right now). Click here to see the 9 lessons that make up the Course.

Where Can I Find Free Pickleball Lessons?

Free pickleball classes are probably going to be a little harder to find unless you already belong to a Rec. Center or some type of organized Pickleball Association or Club.

Free Pickleball Lessons are not impossible but it might take a little creativity on your part. I’ve seen some Coaches (who represent a pickleball paddle manufacturer or brand) combine a clinic with a paddle demo day. It’s a win-win scenario they get to show their paddles to a big group (and maybe sell a few) and the group gets some free instruction.

Sometimes all this takes is a little help in the organization of the event, finding the coach/representative in the area (call the company and ask who their rep is in your area), and then you help promote it to all your Pickleball friends so there is a good turn out.

Until you find those free lessons, you can sign up for my email notifications and I will send you a free lesson every week and right now my Promotions Team is giving everyone who signs up for the email notification a FREE TRIAL of my Members Only online Lessons.

Pickleball Lessons For Seniors

Sometimes the same Coaches and Instructors that teach Beginners are the same ones who organize clinics and pickleball lessons for Seniors. Once again I would start my search with the City or County Department that is over the courts where you play, whether that is a Rec Center or Public Court, and see if they can help steer you in the right direction.

If you have private facility in your area (it helps to be a member at that facility) you can approach it the same way I mentioned in the the Finding Free Pickleball Lessons section above, If you help organize and promote the event, and take some of the work off the plates of the others it’s amazing what can be accomplished. Buy-in from the Senior Pickleball Community for the event is what will make sure there will be future events but if they are anything like my Senior Students they will pack the class.
